WEIR GROUP ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

 

The Weir Group PLC announces the appointment of Richard Menell to the Board as a non-executive director, with effect from 1 April 2009.

 

Mr Menell (53) is chairman of Bateman Engineering and is a director of the Standard Bank Group, Gold Fields Limited and Mutual & Federal Insurance Company.  

 

He is a geologist by qualification and a graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge and Stanford University, California.

 

Weir Group chairman, Lord Smith of Kelvin, said:  "Richard has spent many years in the mining industry in the United States, Australia and South Africa and brings an extensive knowledge and understanding of the mining sector the Group."

 

"He will complement and extend the already considerable range of expertise on the Weir Group board and I am delighted he has agreed to join us."

 

Under paragraph 9.6.13 of the UK Listing Authority Listing Rules it is disclosed that Richard Menell was formerly President and CEO of TEAL Exploration & Mining Inc., and formerly executive chairman of director of African Rainbow Minerals Limited (previously Anglovaal Mining Limited).

 

There are no other details to be disclosed under Section 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules.
